Why do so many people think language learning is boring?
Leif-Norway was started by Roman and Sabine, people who were themselves struggling to find fun and social ways to learn Norwegian. The existing course offerings are often theoretical, lacking social interaction and almost exclusively online only.
Today, online courses - self-study or instructor-led - are an important learning tool with many benefits to participants including high flexibility and manageable costs.
However, as founders and designers of LEIF-Norway, we're convinced that language learning shouldn't only take place online. After all, we humans learn a language to connect with other people - especially in personal interactoins..
That's why we strive to create a learning environment where learning becomes an unforgettable and social experience. Our activity-based courses are not designed as a complete learning program. We aim to supplement the learning experience and, through engaging experiences, contribute to a personal quantum leap in participants' motivation and capabilities.
When you can touch and feel something, you learn better! We use materials in bright colours and with different shapes and textures. Participants are actively involved, which makes learning easier.
During the indoor learning part, participants use the materials, feel them while working with them, and discuss them with others. We view both outdoor learning and active indoor learning as "learning with all the senses".
If you want to learn something, you need to lay the foundation first - and then put it to use! This is not so easy in real life. Where can we, as language learners, find interesting, personalised courses that will really help us get ahead?
Practical application is precisely what our courses focus on. Each day starts with active learning in a friendly seminar environment - and then it's off to put what you've learnt into practice. For us, "off we go" means: we go on excursions together, where you have the opportunity to apply what you've learnt. Everyone can participate according to their wishes and abilities, and create lifelong memories through fun and success.
