All our courses have a similar basic structure.
In the morning, we meet in a nice seminar room for four 45-minute sessions. During the sessions we work on the basics of the language and get ready for the day's activities.
In the afternoon, we go out together. We use the language in practice, get to know Norwegian culture and people, and experience the beautiful nature around us.
What we do in the afternoon varies depending on the season, weather, available locations and what the participants want or need. For example, a boat trip on the Telemark Canal is only possible if it is not frozen over.
We serve a simple lunch during the break. Drinks - coffee, tea and water - are also available in the seminar rooms. It's always important for us to accommodate special needs. Feel free to ask us about our options.
How many excursions are included depends on the course. Transport is usually organised in collaboration with the participants.
Our introductory course is suitable for beginners - whether you don't know anything about Norwegian or are at an early stage.
The goal is for you to get started with the basic principles of speaking - we want you to leave feeling comfortable saying "Hi" and having an easy start to conversations.
This course is for those who know some basic Norwegian, and want to learn to master the language for everyday life in Norway. Perfect for those who often holiday in Norway or want to move here.
We focus on situations and language needed for things like shopping at the store, getting to know new people and everyday conversations in an in-depth format. We do our utmost to accommodate participants' theme requests whenever possible.
The daily schedule is almost identical to that of the weekly events. We begin with a 3-hour workshop (180 minutes) and then have lunch together. Afterwards, we go on an excursion or participate in an interesting activity, such as a visit, an interview, or a tour, to apply what we have learned.
The offer is suitable for individuals interested in tourism, the country or the language, for new residents or for companies that want to send one or more employees to the course.
The course takes place at our Leif-Norway location. We have organized various experiences for different seasons, ability levels, and interests – from boat trips and sauna visits to kayaking and a visit to a stave church.
